About Us

Scientifically Grounded, Emotionally Transformative, and Quietly Transcendant

Hillside Yoga · Inner Awareness Practices was created to make the wisdom within yoga philosophy clear, practical, and accessible for anyone seeking steadiness. Our work is grounded in the belief that simple, evidence‑informed practices can help people sense what’s happening inside, soften the tension they carry, and gently shift into healthier patterns of response.

Over years of teaching in mental‑health and rehabilitation settings, we’ve seen that these tools are not limited to any one population. When offered with clarity and compassion, they support people from all backgrounds — whether they’re navigating recovery, managing stress, or simply wanting to feel more at ease in their daily lives.

Our approach is intentionally simple. We remove the barriers that often make these teachings feel distant or overwhelming, offering a clear doorway into practices that anyone can use. While the roots of our work come from ancient philosophy, everything we teach is translated into modern, usable skills that support nervous‑system regulation and emotional resilience.

Hillside Yoga is also shaped by a quiet intention: to meet people where they are. Many students describe our teaching as calm, grounding, and deeply human — a space where they feel seen rather than evaluated. That spirit guides everything we create, from in‑person sessions to the resources we share online.

This website exists as an extension of that work. It’s a place for continued learning, gentle reminders, and practical tools — for the students we’ve met in inpatient settings, and for anyone who finds their way here. Our hope is that these practices become a steady companion, offering a moment of calm and a skill you can carry with you long after you leave the room.

Sense → Soften → Shift

Inner Awareness Practices are evidence-informed tools that regulate your nervous system, deepen interoceptive awareness, and build lasting emotional resilience.
