Welcome to the Mat

Why Hillside Yoga?

Our instructor is Yoga Sam who has been practicing yoga since 2000. Trained through the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago, Samantha has been sharing her love of yoga since 2006.

Do I need to be flexible?

All of our classes are suited for multiple abilities. There are multiple variations to the poses for varying strength and flexibility. Flexibility will come as you practice, but is not a requirement to start.

What should I bring?

Just a smile! The studio has all the props and supplies you may need (at no charge). Some students may choose to bring their own mat to class if they have one they want to use.

How much are classes?

Classes are $15 each. We accept cash and check at the studio.

Can I just drop in for a class?

Definitely. Our ongoing classes are great to stop in when you have time in your schedule. Please come 10 minutes early for your first class.

How often should I come?

Most of our students come weekly, not always on the same day of the week. As you learn more you are welcome to come to more classes to increase your home practice.

Do I need to practice at home?

No, however, you may find that practicing a few poses at home to be very beneficial.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes that allow you full range of movement. Layers are suggested as you may feel cool for guided meditation at the end of class.

Does yoga conflict with my religion?

Yoga is not a religion. Yoga is a science, a process of trial and error. Students of all faiths are welcome.
